Where you can go on and on…

I Was Wrong. This is the worst Christian Video I’ve evr seen.

No Wonder Math Scores Are Down

Cash For Clunkers – The Hard Numbers
Again our illustrious current administration has flunked math.

·         A vehicle at 15 mpg and 12,000 miles per year uses 800 gallons a
year of gasoline.    A vehicle at 25 mpg and 12,000 miles per year uses 480 gallons a year.  So, the average clunker transaction will reduce US gasoline
consumption by 320 gallons per year.

·         They claim 700,000 vehicles – so that’s 224 million gallons /
year.   That equates to a bit over 5 million barrels of oil.   5 million barrels of oil is about ¼ of one day’s US consumption.   And, 5 million barrels of oil costs about $375 million dollars at
$75/bbl.

·         So, we all contributed to spending “$3 billion” to save $375
million a year.

Now you know why our government is going broke….  Also makes you wonder about their claim that they can fix health care at no additional cost.

Best Political Heckling EVER

Toledo Mayor candidate, Ben Konop is the subject of the most effective heckling ever.  One of my fav videos in a long time.

I know it’s been a while since I posted here.  Facebook has kept me busy. However, upon hearing this quote, I had to get it out to you all. I was listening to a teaching on the Holy Spirit by Bill Johnson from Bethel Church in Redding CA.  He was talking about people who won’t embrace the Holy Spirit because they have seen kookiness demonstrated by folks operating in excess or the flesh.  I heard him say this and rewound it 10 times to hear it over and over.  I think it’s filled with wisdom.  Here it is:

“I pay no attention to the warnings of possible excess from anyone who is satisfied living with lack.”  -Bill Johnson    Wow!!!

Amazing Testimony from Penn Gillette of Penn & Teller

Update 09

Happy New Year to all my readers.  I recently updated my calendar through March of 2009 (see Upcoming Events in Column 3 of this site).  I also updated “What Louie’s Reading” as well.  I’m planning on doing much more personal writing in 09 so be prepared. :)

Two notable movies to watch.  I loved The Curious Case of Benjamin Button as well as Eastwood’s “Gran Torino.”  Check them out’ they’re definitely worth seeing.

Dang, I’m Old

My son, Brody, turned 13 last Friday.  Yes, he is now a teenager.  My youngest turd (my term of endearment for my kids) just became a teenager.  He was sitting on my lap on the eve of this pubescent right of passage.  As the clock oozed past midnight, I looked at him and asked, “Do you feel any different at 13 than you did when you were 12?”

“Yes, I think I do, Dad, ” He responded.

“In what way?” I wondered. “What is different for you today than yesterday?”

“The Responsibility,” he answered

I almost barfed.  I laughed outloud and so did Brody.  As if, in a few seconds of time, the weight of his personhood became heavier.  Don’t send me emails explaining the psychobabble of teenage transcendence.  I know what you mean, but certainly this is not thrust upon him at 10 til midnight on the eve of his birthday.

As if to prove my point for me, Brody woke up the next morning at 7:30 so he and I could play RockBand on the Wii before the women arose.   Oh, the responsibility of it all.  BTW, our Wii band is named “ZitNipple.”  Watch for our World Tour coming to  city or village near you.  ZitNipple rocks with Brody on drums and me on the bass.   Oh yeah, the responsibility of it all. :)

Happy New Year
