I bought Tom Petty’s 30th Anniversary boxed set a couple weeks ago. First, I love Tom Petty and have since he started (I was in 7th grade). Secondly, he took no crap from record company execs and their squadron of lawyers. Third, this set chronicles his entire music life and is directed by Peter Bogdonovich, which is exquisite.
My favorite moment of the entire 3-disc set occurred when Tom, quite possibly for the last time in concert, waxed reflective/philosphic and asked his audience, “What if just for a moment, everything was OK?” He paused for a minute contemplating the results if his question could occur, then turned around with his hands in the air as if to refuse the glory usually aborbed by rock stars and “appeared” to be directing it to God. It was one of the coolest moments I’ve ever seen in any concert, Christian or otherwise. It’s still sticking with me several weeks later.
I don’t know…it’s just been something I’ve been thinking about….
Well your thought has caused me to ponder? If things were ok. I believe our music secular and christian ,would be much different. I have a passion for music, so I guess it hits close to home for me. I personally wonder with they way people are if it would have ever been a possability. Example;I sell phone’s , not real exciting but that’s what I do. We can give a way a phone, but they have tp pay tax on it. What I get is ,so its not really free! Yes you sweet grateful… customer. I bet Tom pondering this very question ,was wondering,or asking God why things were’nt ok. Todd Agnew one of my favorite artist sumed it up with his last tour. More questions than answears.
