This first time I ever heard Penn on the television, I happened to be in another room. As I was listening to him speak and how he said things the thought went through my mind, "If I did not know any better, I would think I was listening to Louie Weber." I had the same thought as I watched and listened to this video.

He's right ...religion does do a lot of bad stuff.

One of the things I like least about my conservative upbringing is that I believe it taught me to the throw away the thoughts of those who were not like me. I think it actually encouraged me to believe I could not hear truth from someone I deemed "ungodly."

God changed this in me when I was working at a restaurant in Huntington, WV called Oliver’s. One of the waiters that worked at Oliver’s was also a former KCC student. I did not have a close connection with this fellow initially. He embraced a much different lifestyle than I, so I pretty much judged him and threw him away. As I got to know him, he shared with me how he came to end his time at KCC. He told me that he had known he was attracted to men from the time he was a very small child. He had grown up in the church and spent years trying to change this feeling. He went to KCC thinking this might be a way for him to change. By the end of his 1st year at KCC he felt so persecuted and guilty that he tried to commit suicide. He never returned to campus once he was released from the hospital.

The scales fell from my eyes at that very moment in time. I had spent a lifetime of judging and throwing people away if they differed from me. I really believed they had no valuable opinions...no worth in this world. They were just lost. God forgive me.

Penn shares incredible truths in this video and yet, we could easily catch ourselves dismissing him because he is admittedly an atheist. I whole heartedly believe "seek and ye shall find." When we earnestly seek God's truth, it is often revealed to us in places we never expected. Not to be trite, but OUR GOD IS AN AWSOME GOD. HE is so AWSOME that he can speak truth through an atheist and oh yea, even when our own vessels were at their dirtiest, he found ways to use us to HIS OWN GLORY.

caminahonda leftinamazda. I'm done now. :-)

Lou, let’s talk soon!
